It’s Tuesday and you know what that means….it’s the day we serve up some of your favorite artists and music back to back. You know like a twin spin, double shot, two-fer?? You get the idea! We have an action packed show planned and look forward to having you on board as we take our musical journey to the EDGE!
I am sure you have heard the news that we lost Tommy Plyler last night. He is probably best known for writing the classic Catalinas song “You Haven’t The Right” which is a staple in the Beach Music Industry. Tommy continued to perform and write and released a new album through KHP Music “Tommy Plyler & Friends- Then and Now” in April of this year. There weren’t many days that Tommy didn’t check in to see how things were going and offer words of encouragement. He was a friend to so many and he will be greatly missed!

Commenting on our loss of the great Tommy Plyler. My first memories of Tommy were watching the Catalinas perform in the mid-60s at Park Center in Charlotte. I remember Tommy stepping into the role as the front man for the band, following Tommy Black’s untimely death. I also remember Tommy and Gary Barker hanging out at the Cellar in Charlotte when they did not have a gig. A true Shag & Beach Music Hall of Fame member through and through. RIP Tommy. But, you will live on as long as Shag & Beach Music are played and celebrated in the Carolinas.
