Memories and Songs
What are your favorite tunes? Do you have any memories to share?
It doesn’t get any better than the Band of Oz! I think my first live show was a Home Builder’s Association Meeting in Raleigh. I did not grow up with Beach Music and had no idea what it was called, but I know I loved the music and show put on that night from a group that I would soon know as one of my all time favorite groups in Beach Music.
There are so many great songs and very hard to list my favorite. Let’s go with Southern Belles, Ocean Boulevard and Shama Lama Ding Dong.
Keith, I’m offended I didn’t make the list of “No Longer With OZ”. How soon they forget.
Sorry Brother.. that was way before my time. Got you on the list now.
I agree, Bo… The Band Of Oz is what Carolina Beach Music is all about. I’ve done countless shows with these phenomenal guys. From the tight quarters of the Thunderbird Lounge in Florence to the wide open spaces of the SC Tobacco Festival in Lake City and the streets of Dillon, SC(my hometown). It’s always a party when BOZ bus rolls in. Best of all the party continues!! Band Of Oz will perform at the Florence Civic Center Thursday, January 28th… As I have said… Southern Belles Shaggin’ on Ocean Boulevard while the Band Of Oz Shama Lamas their Ding Dong… works for me!!!
Keith and Mike talked about the show in Florence today – Sounds like you got a great series coming up!
Staton Taylor, Bob Lynch, Charlie Satterwhite, Rob Rowell, Roland Colsen all played with OZ in the seventies
BOZ still going strong! Congrats to David Keith and Chuck.Great band now too.
Talking about the Band of Oz, who was the lead singer,on my favorite BOZ song, “I Found A Love”?
Congrats to Keith and David for keeping this thing alive for soon fifty years!! They always give a great show and can still pack any venue.
I also sang in the band of oz
My mom wanted to know if Dwain Herring was the drummer for Avengers or Band of Oz. I thought he was a fan only.
