As we go in to this Tuesday morning before the Thanksgiving Holiday, I was reviewing some of the comments left at the website about Beach Music. I posted my thoughts on Beach Music last week. This discussion has always been something that can divide a room. Some want to hear the bands. Some want to hear the old stuff they call “Shag Music”. Some just want to dance! Some Just want to enjoy the music! Are you fan of Beach Music or Shag Music?
I know there are shaggers out there listening to the show. I also know I have a lot of friends that are huge fans of seeing the beach music bands perform live.
Here is the link to tune in to Shag City USA Radio – The Edge Radio Show with Mike Worley plays at 9AM.
Beach Music is the Best!
YES! To Both! Love Beach and Shag!
I love beach music. Today’s shaggers dance to things that are not beach music…which to me…is really cool. I think it helps keep and bring new folks into the dance. It was best explained to me by 94.9 DJ Jason Justice who came up through the Junior Shag program. It’s asking a lot for 12 and 13 year old kids to dance to a 50 to 60 year old song. Makes this a more complicated subject….but healthy for the dance.
…BOTH !!! …we CAN have it all !!! … the “modern” shag music certainly has it’s place on the dance floor…but I must admit, when I’m actually ON the beach with my toes in the sand I want to hear BEACH music and not just shag music…cause you can’t necessarily shag to all beach music but you sure do feel when you hear it…kind of like the old Supreme Court adage about porn: I don’t know how to define it, but I know it when I see it …
